The RLI Research Laboratory designs, conducts and manages clinical research projects for RLI clients.
RLI Research Laboratory originated with research activities performed by the Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Medical School when Dr. James Rippe was an attending physician there. In the 1980s the laboratory grew rapidly under Dr. Rippe's direction, conducting a wide range of studies on exercise testing and training, weight management, cholesterol management, and the effects of medications on exercise performance.
In 1990, to continue and to expand upon its research activities, the laboratory moved from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester to its current location in Shrewsbury and became incorporated as the Center for Clinical and Lifestyle Research (CCLR). In early 2000, the name was changed to the RLI Research Laboratory when the laboratory became the research division of Rippe Lifestyle Institute.
In 2004, Rippe Lifestyle Institute moved its location to Florida Hospital Celebration Health so that it could collaborate more closely with Dr. Rippe's Executive Clinic, Rippe Health Assessment. This allowed Rippe Health Assessment to benefit from cutting edge technologies available from the Rippe Lifestyle Institute Research team.
In 2007, as the RLI work in Florida continued to expand, the organization set up a separate company, Rippe Lifestyle Research Institute of Florida. In 2008, Rippe Lifestyle Institute and Rippe Lifestyle Research Institute of Florida, moved to a state of the art 5,600 sq foot lab space at 215 Celebration Place, Celebration, Florida.
