Center for Lifestyle Medicine at the University of Central Florida
From November 2006-2010 UCF created and maintained the Center for Lifestyle Medicine. This was the nation's first university based academic center for lifestyle medicine. Dr. Rippe served as Chairman for this Center.
The Campaign for the Center for Lifestyle Medicine at UCF
The University of Central Florida completed a major fund raising campaign for its Center for Lifestyle Medicine which was chaired by Dr. Rippe. The campaign established the goal of raising 10 million dollars to provide an endowment for the Center as well as named professorships.

Tropicana Health and Nutrition Benefits of Citrus Juices
This brochure was made available to all registered dieticians at the 2004 National Meeting of the American Dietetic Association. Dr. Rippe wrote the introductory letter urging all nutritional professionals to become more familiar with the multiple health benefits of citrus products.
The Women’s Health and Wellness Tour with Dr. James Rippe
Dr. Rippe was the lead spokesperson and cardiologist for a major campaign to help women understand that heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. This campaign, which involved multiple speaking engagements and other appearances and events was sponsored as part of the “Wear Red” program through General Electric HealthCare.

REWARD Project Brochure
Rippe Lifestyle Institute is the International Coordinating Center for the REWARD Project (Registry of Weight and Related Disorders). This health registry is enrolling up to 200,000 individuals between 2000 and 2003, and following them for up to three years to learn more about the effects of weight on health.
Corporate America Health Summit 2000
Corporate America Health Summit 2000, an inspiring conference that gathered together senior human resource officers, benefits directors and medical directors of Fortune 1000 companies, was conducted February 13-16, 2000, at the Disney Institute in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Dr. Rippe served as moderator for the four-day event and Rippe Health Assessment and Rippe Lifestyle Institute assisted with event planning, management and promotion.
Club Business International Fit Over Forty Feature
Dr. Rippe appeared on the cover of Club Business International in 1996 in conjunction with his book Fit Over Forty. The cover article explored the simple ways that individuals can incorporate fitness activities into their lives.
The Cheerios® SureStart Program
In 1998 Dr. Rippe co-authored The Cheerios® SureStart Program, a consumer education pamphlet, with consultant Marsha Hudnell, MS, RD, as part of a health education program for Cheerios®. The program emphasized that the consumption of whole grain oats as part of a low cholesterol and low saturated fat diet combined with regular fitness walking can improve cardiovascular health.
Between 1998 and 2000 a picture of Dr. Rippe frequently appeared on the back of Cheerios® Cereal boxes as part of a major national campaign to provide information about how consumption of whole grain oats in conjunction with a low cholesterol and low saturated fat diet can lower cholesterol and improve cardiovascular health.
Stop: Take Control of Diabetes
Dr. Rippe hosted Stop: Take Control of Diabetes, a patient education video, in 1997. This video was a finalist for a prestigious “Freddy” award from the American Medical Association in the category of patient education.
Step This Way
In 1997 Dr. Rippe co-authored Step This Way, a consumer pamphlet that was part of a major national program for Healthy Choice Foods. The pamphlet helped individuals plan for increased physical activity and proper nutrition to improve their health.
Newsweek Heart Health Supplement
Dr. Rippe and his wife, Stephanie Hart Rippe, as well as their two Labrador Retrievers (Walker and Bucky) appeared on the cover of the Newsweek Heart Health Supplement in 1990. This supplement contained an article by Dr. Rippe to help individuals recovering from heart attacks incorporate more walking and other forms of physical activity into their lives.

Dr. Rippe and the research staff at Rippe Lifestyle Institute developed the landmark one-mile walk test to estimate individuals' aerobic capacity by simply walking a mile. The pamphlet titled, The Rockport Guide to Fitness Walking, which was published in 1988, highlighted Rippe Lifestyle Institute's one-mile walk test, a simple self-assessment that has been utilized by over two million individuals.

Fitness Stepping was Dr. Rippe’s first exercise video. It was produced in conjunction with step aerobics national champion Joy Kelly. It has been utilized around the world to help individuals understand how to use step aerobics to improve their health and fitness.

Fitness Walking Program: Walk With Your Doc, published in 1988, with an accompanying audio tape was written by Dr. James Rippe and Dr. Art Ulene when Dr. Ulene was the Medical Editor of the Today Show. The book and audiotape lead individuals through a variety of walking programs.
