Journal of Intensive
Care Medicine
The Journal of Intensive Care Medicine, edited by Dr. James
Rippe and Dr. Nicholas Smyrnios, has been in publication
since 1985. The Journal of Intensive Care Medicine is a peer-reviewed,
subscription-only publication with an audience of intensive
care specialists with diverse backgrounds in areas such as
internal medicine, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, anesthesiology,
pediatrics, neonatology, and surgery.
Dr. Rippe served as the co-editor of a special supplement
to the journal Obesity Research in April 1998. Dr. Rippe is
one of the leading obesity researchers in the United States
and the RLI Laboratory is one of the leading research sites
for the study of lifestyle-related obesity treatments. In
addition to co-editing the supplement, Dr. Rippe also wrote
an article in the supplement entitled "The Case for Medical
Management of Obesity: A Call for Increased Physician Involvement"
(Obesity Research 6:23S-33S, 1998).
Journal of the American
Dietetic Association Supplement
Dr. Rippe served as guest editor of the October 1998 supplement
to the Journal of the American Dietetic Association titled,
"The Obesity Epidemic: A Mandate for a Multidisciplinary
Approach." The supplement, which brought together a large
body of current information on obesity, was sent to over 64,000
members of the American Dietetic Association at that time.
Nutrition in Clinical
Care
Dr. Rippe is the Founding Editor of Nutrition in Clinical
Care, a major academic nutrition journal that was inaugurated
in 1997. Today the journal is edited by Tufts University.
